In the post-revolutionary era, our society has become so rich that we are among the wealthiest countries in the world. The future of our society is not, and cannot be, only in accumulating and increasing wealth, but above all in improving the quality of our relationships with each other and the environment in which we live. The reckless treatment of the landscape that we have witnessed in the post-revolutionary era, driven by the desire to maximize profit, has erased from our cities the clear boundary between town and countryside.
Hradec Králové has not escaped these processes either, but stagnation or a slight decline in population has minimized these processes and has protected the city from the worst-case scenario of uncontrolled development of suburban "sprawls" - housing estates.
In 50 or 100 years, Hradec Králové will be a city that will become the salon of the 21st century from the salon of the First Republic. A salon that will have a clear entrée and defined boundaries. All the spaces of the city will be arranged in such a way that each of them will be identifiable not only by its program but also by its form.
Hradec Králové will become a city that answers the question of the constant expansion of the urban environment at the expense of the landscape and successfully reconciles economic and ecological requirements. The proposal we are presenting is a manual to start this process.
