The competition is announced under the auspices of Jiří Bouška, Mayor of the Statutory City of Mladá Boleslav,
in cooperation with the Railway Administration.
NSU Foundation for Contemporary Art Prague is the expert guarantor of the competition.
The client's goal is to bring contemporary art to the station space that responds to the genius loci of the city.
The subject of the competition is the design of an artwork for the public space of the new main train station building in Mladá Boleslav. For decades, the main train station in Mladá Boleslav was perceived more as a neglected edge of the city than as its dignified gateway. However, the space plays a key role: it is the visitor’s first contact with the city and at the same time the last image they take with them when they leave by train. The new station building, which is currently under construction, thus represents a unique opportunity to transform the perception of this place — to move it from the periphery to the symbolic threshold of the city.
The call for applications is open to anyone interested – until March 13, 2026. From the applications in the form of portfolios with three reference projects (from studies or exhibitions to implementations), the jury will select 5 authors/teams who will develop a proposal and personally present it to the jury.
