The Vision Kladno Architectural and Urban Planning Competition verified the potential of the Libušina location in Kladno and, based on the jury's decision, the competition found a long-term partner with whom the client will create and develop the project and strategy for the future development of the location. After completing business negotiations, the winners of the competition, together with the client, will revise the phasing and entrances to the area under consideration and the wider area. After updating the study, the winning team will present the updated development concept to the public.
Vision Kladno once again brings together key urban functions in one place. In collaboration with architects, it will shape a natural ecosystem of business, production, and rental housing.
The site on Libušina Street in Kladno presents a unique opportunity to transform a large brownfield with a rich industrial heritage into a modern, vibrant, and sustainable urban district. The goal of the competition is to create an iconic project — a new urban landmark that harmoniously integrates work, living, and community life. Thanks to its location near Prague and the planned rail connection to Václav Havel Airport, the area holds exceptional development potential. The architectural and urban design should provide a thoughtful framework for future implementation — balancing functionality, aesthetics, and flexibility to allow the district to adapt to evolving needs. The vision is to create a multifunctional environment offering high-quality rental housing, spaces for production and entrepreneurship, community infrastructure, and public services. The project is founded on respect for local heritage, a strong focus on sustainability, and openness to contemporary, ambitious architecture.
Two teams were directly invited, and three teams were selected by the jury based on an open call that attracted 54 applicants. The resulting group of five competitors:
- ADEPT + OHBOI
- Benthem Crouwel Architects + ov architekti + Felixx Landscape Architects
- BRUTHER + atelier gram + Openfabric
- COBE + monom
- MVRDV + Ateliér ra15
