The Křižná Primary School is the largest primary school in the town of Valašské Meziříčí and is located close to the center. It is currently attended by 636 children in the 1st and 2nd grades. The school’s sports hall has long been inadequate for today’s requirements for sports education, and the town has been planning to build a new sports hall to supplement the need for sports facilities. The city has therefore decided to merge these two needs and locate the new hall on the school grounds, where it would serve not only the needs of the school but also the city outside of school hours. Therefore, the new hall aims to provide suitable sports facilities for primary school children and to offer the public a space for training and sports.

Janica Šipulová

Jury Chair

After five years in Vienna, she and her partner founded the architectural office consequence forma, based in Brno. Their connection to the Viennese architectural scene has led to collaboration on various projects, such as BKK-3 in Regensburg, Germany. An integral part of the architectural studio is a focus on quality urbanism and public space, where a precise analysis of the existing environment defines future change.

Zdeněk Sendler

He is one of the most prominent landscape architects in the Czech Republic. He graduated in garden and landscape
design from the University of Agriculture in Lednice. In 1990 he founded his own studio, which cooperates with architectural studios, but also with building and engineering professions, sculptors and artists. Among his best known projects are Denisovy sady in Brno or the restoration of the Jirásek Gardens in Litoměřice.

Gabriela Smetanová

Gabriela studied architecture at the Slovak Academy of Architecture. She is a member of the editorial team of the Slovak architecture and art website MAG DA. The latest success is the first prize for the headquarters of the Prague Medical Rescue Service.

Jan Mach

He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at TUL in Liberec. In 2008, together with Jan Vondrák and Lukáš Holub, they founded the architectural studio Mjölk, which is also based in Liberec. They focus mainly on working with wood as a building material. This year they won the main prize in the Architects Grand Prix 2023 competition for the Kloboucká Lesní headquarters.

Jana Stachová

She studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the CTU. She is a co-founder of the studio boq architekti, which she founded with her partner Miroslav Stach in 2014. The characteristic feature of their work is working with space, which starts with a well-thought-out layout, to which they pay great attention. As a result, their work addresses a wide range of scales - from interior design to family and apartment buildings to public space.
