Due to the uniqueness and importance of the KNL in providing emergency specialized and other health care to the residents of the Liberec Region and in some fields (traumatology, cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, perinatology and others) also to patients from other regions, it is absolutely crucial and necessary to start the process of revitalization and modernization of the entire KNL campus. Within the framework of the design competition, the KNL is looking for a conceptual plan of the entire hospital campus and the subsequent implementation of the first stage of the KNL revitalization and modernization.

After the completion of this first phase, other phases should follow, so that within a period of about 30 years, a completely new layout of KNL will be created, which will meet the requirements of modern medicine, significantly improve the environment and patient care, and create quality conditions for doctors and other medical staff. There must also be substantial savings in operating costs, which are the most important economic item during the life cycle of the facility.
