Jury Evaluation

We have decided to award this project first place in the competition because it is a spatially promising concept that best offers the necessary basis for the development of the project from all points of view. The design most accurately described the assignment and its effect. However, expect a very demanding elaboration of the project going forward.

Jury Evaluation

A very popular scheme, raising great expectations. However, the finalization was not convincing enough to be chosen as a reliable basis for further cooperation. Doubts were raised about the difficulty of continuing (disordered basic geometry of the three modular grids, unspecified use of space on the 1st floor in connection with the exit from the metro, the relationship to street lines, etc.). The use effectiveness of areas and public spaces in the three-story plinth was not clear to us. The lush articulation of the facades and the unconvincing placement of greenery on the structures, which do not reflect its placement in the documentation (sections, elevations do not reflect soil thickness, i.e. impact on overall impression), did not give the jury the sufficiency of the information to recommend the concept.

Jury Evaluation

This concept best summed up the part of the assignment concerning the city landmark requirement. The price for its fulfillment is a clear strictness of the chosen solution, which practically does not allow for predictable modifications of the project without disturbing its essence. Two distinctive solitary buildings form the dominant feature for the entire destination, significantly applied on the horizon of this part of Prague. The jury apricates the interesting decision for the amphitheater/metro exit / central square. However, the continuity of the proposed public spaces in the immediate context is very fragile. From the point of view of implementation, the concept assumes a high quality of execution and use of exquisite materials, almost ultimately, without the possibility to respond to possible changes in the real estate market. The same remark also applies to the latent need for typological adaptability of the design over time.
