The SuperMost project, developed by CCEA MOBA in collaboration with the city of Most, focuses on the city’s future—particularly its central area. Its goal is to create a modern, vibrant, accessible, and welcoming environment where people can live, work, and socialize comfortably—a city that will thrive not only economically and environmentally, but also socially. Most has a unique history—as a city, it was relocated in the past due to mining. Today, there is an opportunity to turn this specific experience into an advantage and move forward as a progressive 21st-century city.

Throughout 2025, three international architectural competitions—or rather, competitive dialogues—were announced, each dedicated to three key themes of the city center: SuperPrior: New use of the department store, SuperCentrum: Revitalization of the city center, and SuperRadnice: Artistic intervention in the municipal building. At the beginning of 2026, a fourth competitive dialogue was added: SuperStudio: Creative Hub Most. An important part of the project was also the international conference SuperMost: New Future for the Relocated City, which opened an interdisciplinary discussion on the transformation of the city’s post-war architecture and its further development in the context of current social and environmental challenges.

The preparation of the competitive dialogues took place in close collaboration with the local population—through participatory workshops, public meetings, and questionnaires. Their common goal was to identify and articulate what the people of Most desire, what activities they feel are missing in the city center, and what values the city’s future form should bring them.

**MM3 SuperPrior: New use for a department store
As the first in a series of competitive dialogues, the city of Most announced the SuperPrior competitive dialogue. The Prior department store, which opened in 1976 as the city’s main shopping center, has the potential to become a new community and cultural hub. The city, which is its current owner, plans to transform it into a vibrant space for gathering, education, culture, and other functions that benefit local residents. During the project’s preparation, Prior will serve as a venue for public discussions and presentations, as well as a testing ground for its future use. Prior will be the starting point and the venue/stage for the process of transforming the city of Most.

**MM2 SuperRadnice: Artistic intervention in the municipal building
The second competitive dialogue focuses on the entrance to City Hall and seeks a design for a work of art for its façade, with an emphasis on the original monumental mosaic on the attic. The goal is to offer a contemporary interpretation of the removed mosaic and to imbue this significant public building with a unique visual identity and symbolic value. The proposed intervention should not only be aesthetically striking but, above all, comprehensible and accessible to a broad audience. At the same time, it will represent the city’s open and contemporary communication with its residents and visitors.

**MM1 SuperCentrum: Revitalization of the city center
The most extensive of the series of four competitive dialogues focuses on the overall revitalization of the city center. The goal is to find a multidisciplinary team of architects and urban planners who, in collaboration with the city, will design a concept for the new center—from the urban framework to specific solutions for public spaces. The aim is not only to improve the physical environment but also to bring life back to the center, strengthen community ties, and foster its creative energy. The city center is seen as a key driver of change and as an attractive space for current and future residents and a broader professional diversity.

**MM0 SuperStudio: Creative Hub MostM
The subject of the fourth and most recent dialogue is the transformation of the former library into a vibrant center for art and cultural activities with intergenerational use. The main focus will be on shared teaching spaces for the Moskevská and F. L. Gassmann Music Schools and an open platform for collaboration with other educational and cultural institutions. The goal is to create a sensitive and cost-effective transformation of the building that maximizes the use of its existing qualities—not an extensive and costly reconstruction, but a well-thought-out adaptation for new creative functions.
